How do I get set up for a show?

When entering the auditorium, the first thing you should do is make your way to the sound desk and unlock it. Safely remove the three wooden covers over the sound desk, and check if the mac is turned on by wiggling the mouse on the right hand side of the desk. If the monitor comes on, double-click on the “Greenwood Guest” login, and wait for the computer to load. If not, locate the physical mac box towards the back of the right-hand side of the desk, and feel around for the on button, then turn it on and wait. Once the mac has logged in, open chrome and login to your personal gmail account, as the production team will usually send the necessary files to your email or to a google drive that you can access with it. Find QLabs 5 on the bottom of the screen (the screenshot below shows the symbol to look for), create a new file, rename it to the name of the show, and then drag the window to whichever part of the screen you find easiest to use.

As for the sound desk itself, reach behind the right-hand side of the desk until you feel a power switch. Flick this to on and wait for the desk to power on completely. Once loaded, there should already be a show file loaded for the previous performance. Simply locate the settings button on the top left of the rightmost screen, find the files/saves menu, press save as, and name the show file after whatever show you are working on. For example, if you are saving the show file for KMT’s The Little Mermaid, save it as “KMT Little Mermaid” or something of the sort. The sound desk should now be ready for use.
